A 1982 graduate of Hendrix with a B.A. in Humanities, Rev. Alston received a Master of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology, cum laude, in 1990. Prior to becoming chaplain at Hendrix College, Rev. Alston served as District Superintendent in the Alexandria and Monroe Districts in Louisiana and previously pastored churches in Shreveport, Sulphur, Lacombe, Haughton, and Chalmette, Louisiana, and Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Organist Kay Bell Provus of Hot Springs has 50 years' experience in church music, as well as a Masters in Music Education from North Texas State University and an M.S. in Accounting from the University of Arkansas.
In addition to Rev. Alston and Ms. Provus, the Arkansas United Methodist Bishop Laura Merrill has also planned to be in attendance Sunday with Hope First United Methodists, and communion will be offered. Everyone is invited to join First United Methodist Church of Hope for a great service of worship and music this Sunday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Hope.
