FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas gymnastics will bolster its roster for the 2025 season with an experienced veteran in Kaitlyn Ewald, who has been added as a graduate transfer.
Ewald has spent the last four seasons at Illinois, where she competed in 46 meets dating back to her freshman year. Kaity has made lineups on all events throughout her collegiate career but has been a mainstay on bars for the Illini. She has scored 9.850+ in 19 of her appearances on bars, and holds a personal best of 9.950, set this past season.
Ewald also evolved into a solid beam contributor for Illinois in her senior year and competed on the event in all but one meet. She scored 9.850+ in six appearances, which included a career-high 9.875 on March 17. Of her five total top three finishes of 2024, three came on beam.
As an underclassman, she consistently appeared in the Illinois floor lineup and has matched her career high of 9.875 five times, the last on March 1 of this year.
One of just six Illini gymnasts to appear in every meet in 2024, Ewald’s steadiness and reliability helped lead the team to a sixth place finish at Big Ten Championships and a regionals appearance. The Illini ultimately finished the season ranked 22nd overall.
Kaity graduated with a bachelor’s of science in kinesiology in May, and was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, 2023 CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree, and two-time WCGA Scholastic All-American.
