Hail possible: Special Weather Statement for Hempstead, Nevada Counties
Special Weather Statement issued June 8 at 4:30AM CDT by NWS Shreveport LA

At 430 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Washington, or 7 miles northwest of Hope, moving southeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.

Locations impacted include...
Hope, Prescott, Emmet, Perrytown, Rosston, Washington, Willisville,
Bodcaw, Bluff City, White Oak Lake State Park, Ozan, Cale, McNab,
Oakhaven, Young, Sutton, Waterloo, Falcon, Mount Moriah, and Morris.

Instructions

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
