Hamilton Haven starts book distribution to graduating kindergartners
Representatives of Prescott’s family crisis center Hamilton Haven visited local kindergarten classrooms Thursday morning and distributed books as graduation gifts.

This morning Hamilton Haven Administrative Assistant Leslie Hughes and volunteer Elaine Williams brought books to kindergartners at Nevada Elementary. Before presenting the books, they told the story of the establishing of Hamilton Haven, which began when a daughter of a teacher living in Prescott bought a house, restored it with the help of volunteers and opened its doors in 2020 to families suffering temporary homelessness after flood or fire.

At Nevada Elementary, the Hamilton Haven representatives were met by Principal Tonda Pennington.

After the visit to Nevada Elementary, Hughes and another volunteer Michael Henagan arrived at Blevins Elementary School where they presented the story and the books to two more kindergarten classes.

The students were given books of different titles, greeting them with enthusiasm and promising to have someone read them aloud to them or to read them themselves.

Hamilton Haven representatives will visit their home school of Prescott Elementary tomorrow.
