HAPS year-end honors announced

HOPE – Academic and grade-level honors for the end of the 2020-2021 school year at the Hope Academy of Public Service were announced recently in a special assembly at Hempstead Hall on the University of Arkansas-Hope campus.

Presented by HAPS Principal Dr. Carol Ann Duke, the awards culminated with the naming of the “Fiftieth Student,” Kennedy Phillips, representing the male or female student who contributed beyond academics throughout the year.

Academic and grade-level honors announced were as follows:

Campus awards —

Fiftieth Girl, Kennedy Phillips;

Heart of HAPS, Ava Hawthorne;

Best All-Around Eighth Grade Student, Kennedy Phillips, Jena Brown; Best All-Around Seventh Grade Student, Rosa Paredes; Best All-Around Sixth Grade Student, Juan Arroyo; Best All-Around Fifth Grade Student, Cayden Haywood.

Virtual students – Best All-Around fifth grade, Ashlyn Griffith; Best All-Around sixth grade, Riley Brammlet; Best All-Around seventh grade, Kaydence Capshaw; Best All-Around eighth grade, Kassandra Cordova.

EAST awards — Spirit of EAST, Kennedy Phillips; Inspiring Mind of EAST, Madison Phillips; Heart of EAST, Ava Brown.

Innovation – Best All-Around, Shelby Gilbert; Most Improved, Luke Martin, Nathan Sanchez.

Band — Beginning Band: Best All-Around Woodwinds, Lyric Carter; Most Improved Woodwinds, Sonye Munoz; Best All-Around Brass, Jeizlyn Barriios; Most Improved Brass, Julian Ugarte.

Seventh grade band: Best All-Around, Joelys Lopez; Most Improved, Jer’miah Nolen.
