Representatives from the Hope Police Department (HPD), Hempstead County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), and Pafford Medical Services met today to continue planning for the Haunted Drive-Thru, which will take place at Hope Fair Park October 29th from 6pm to 9pm. Entrance to the Haunted Drive-Thru will be the park front gate, and participants will leave through either the back gate or the Jones St. exit. A walking aisle is also in the plans for those who walk to the park, and candy treats will be available to all participating children.
The planning committee has come up with several creative ideas for Halloween-themed scenes and live-action exhibits to entertain families. Committee members said the motivation behind the Haunted Drive-Thru was to allow the community a fun, yet safe family event akin to a mobile Haunted House. Kids can still get that trick-or-treating feeling and dress up in their costumes, yet still social distance.
The committee calls for anyone who would like to donate candy, volunteer to be in a scene, or help with set-up, etc. Also, other community agencies and churches are invited to to join in the fun. Volunteers interested in participating or donating to the Haunted Drive-Thru can contact Angela Gammage at the HPD, Marla Gullion at the HCSO, or Josh Whisenhunt at Pafford. The committee will meet again in two weeks for further planning.
