At approximately 1000 hours on December 1st, 2020 A Hempstead County citizen reported a fraud to HCSO.

The citizen advised that he had received a letter from the Unemployment division that advised him that his account was in internal review and they had set up a different process to expedite the release of his account. The citizen stated that he did not file for unemployment and that he was still actively employed.

Please be aware and report any suspicious phone calls from persons who want you to give out personal information, and credit card information over the phone.
