HCSO Makes 2nd Arrest in Wire Theft from Utility Poles

A second arrest was made by Hempstead County deputies investigating the theft of wire from utility poles in the Blevins, Deann, and Emmett area. On Tuesday June 21, 2022 Deputies arrested 40-year-old Patrick Whitsitt of Blevins and charged him with Theft of Property. Whitsitt was transported to the Hempstead County Detention Center where he is awaiting a first court appearance.

According to a representative from Energy Arkansas, approximately 16,000 feet of wire was damaged on Hempstead County Roads 55, 45 North, 48, and 205 in the Blevins, Deann, & Emmet area causing some power outages in those areas. Investigators recovered approximately 2,000 feet of the wire and returned it to Energy Arkansas Power Company,
