Press Release

Three senior Hempstead County 4-Hers recently competed at the Arkansas 4-H State O-Rama held at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville campus on July 26-29. Those attending were Kassidy Beasley, Freya Dowell, and Cora Townsend. All three competed as a team and won 1st place in the Interior Design competition. Freya Dowell also competed individually in the Photography competition and was awarded 2nd place.

“I am extremely proud of these bright, talented young ladies who worked hard to prepare for their competitions,” said Betty Wingfield, Hempstead County 4-H Extension Agent, who also attended State 4-H O-Rama as advisor.

Each year contests (O-Ramas) are held at the county, district, and state level in approximately 40 competitive events. Most contests require individuals to qualify at district level to compete at the state level and some contests are state-only contests. During State 4-H O-Rama, 4-H members and adults participate in educational workshops and tours offered throughout the event plus fun recreational activities.
