In 2018 the Hempstead County Bicentennial Committee raised funds to place markers in fifteen of the communities of Hempstead County that provide a brief history of their establishment and importance.
As part of the Train Day festivities, a marker for the city of Hope will be unveiled on Saturday, May 7 at 9am beside the Art Station at the intersection of Division and Walnut streets. Everyone is welcome.
Hope, Arkansas was incorporated on April 8, 1875 as a railroad community along the Cairo and Fulton Railroad. The markers are funded by support from the Hempstead County Bicentennial Committee and the Hempstead County Historical Society.
