Hempstead County Extension Office joins Hope Farmers' Market
The Hempstead County Cooperative Extension Office joined the Hope Farmers’ Market this morning to host the Hospitality Table and provide sweet treats and refreshments for market guests.

Family Consumer Science Agent Terrie James said she and the rest of the team were delighted to be at the market today and share with fellow citizens and local farmers the many services the Extension Office has to offer. “We have so many great programs taking place, particularly with extension homemakers, 4-H, and Master Gardeners,” James said. “We’d love to get kids signed up for 4-H to take the free Weekly Wednesday Workshops which offer interesting classes and fun for the summer, plus we have many events coming soon like a rain barrel workshop for Master Gardeners and the quilt show in the fall for the extension homemakers.”

She shared that there was so much more for the community to enjoy, and that info can be found at the extension office’s Facebook page

Also joining the market today was another booth from the extension office, a free plant clinic which can offer info and advice to locals about diseased plant materials, insect pests, or weeds. For the first time at the market this year, Bolls Family Farm was on the scene with fresh locally-grown produce, and the Mint Man was back with his mint plants and products. Aunt Fern had her fried pies, Lydia’s Bread had her freshly-baked sourdough breads, and Papa’s Honey brought his honey and pollen products. VC Farms, Solomon Farms, Arnold Farms, and W7 farms were also in attendance to provide fresh produce, canned items, baked goods, and a variety of homemade wares.

The Hope Farmers Market takes place every Tuesday morning from 7am to 11am, and vendors provide a variety of locally-grown fresh produce, canned items, baked goods, and homemade products.
