The court unanimously passed two ordinances on their second readings. The first transfers $3,000 in funds from the county general fund for the purpose of buying a vehicle for the county veterans services van. The second amends the 2025 budget to add $25,000 to the road department's funds to pay overtime to county workers responding to storm damage.
County Judge Jerry Crane told the court that a property on 16th Street in Hope that the county got a half ownership of when real estate being used by Steward Health was given to the city of Hope and the county last year has been appraised at $164,000. The funds raised from the sale would go back to the hospital, he said.
Crane also said progress is still being made on road damage from the storms of this spring including culvert replacement. He said he hoped no more overtime funds were needed for further repairs that may be necessary.
NAACP Chapter President and Fulton resident Sylvia Brown asked who she would liason with when applying for grants for flood prevention and emergency preparedness. That officer would be the County Judge.
Adjournment followed.
