FAYETTEVILLE - Junior reserve center Ethan Henderson, the Razorbacks basketball program’s last active link to Arkansas’ Mike Anderson era, has joined fellow junior Anderson era guard Desi Sills in submitting his name into the NCAA transfer portal.

Henderson, a former Little Rock Parkview All-State player lettering for Anderson’s Razorbacks 18-16 in 2018-2019 and in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 for Coach Eric Musselman’s 20-12 Razorbacks and 25-7 Elite Eight Razorbacks, announced “I am entering my name into the transfer portal” Wednesday on Instagram.

“Being a Razorback for the past 3 years has been an unbelievable opportunity,” Henderson posted. “Being able to play for my home state is an experience I will always remember. I want to express how grateful I am to Coach Anderson for recruiting me and to Coach Musselman for letting me further my time as a Razorback, and all my past coaches that got me to this point. Thank you to the fans that packed Bud Walton Arena every game and made the environment amazing for us.”

Henderson began each of his three Razorbacks on the end of the bench yet ended each season logging key minutes.

In 2018-2019 when All-SEC center Daniel Gafford declared for the NBA draft before Arkansas played in the NIT, Henderson played a season-high 18 minutes in the first-round NIT victory over Providence and scored six points and grabbed five rebounds.

Henderson started six games late in the 2019-2020 season while blocking 16 shots and was used more late in the 2020-2021 season while blocking 12 shots but would have started the 2021-2022 campaign behind previously starting big Jaylin Williams and Connor Vanover.

Henderson’s departure leaves Arkansas one scholarship vacancy even after Wednesday’s addition of 5-7 point guard Chris Lykes signing with Arkansas as a graduate transfer starter via the University of Miami.
