The Hope Fire Department was dispatched to a fire Wednesday afternoon at approximately 4:00 pm near the 700 block of South Bill Clinton Drive. Upon arrival, they observed a recent clear-cut area on fire.

Hope Fire Department positioned their units on Bill Clinton Drive and the West side of South Harris Street. Fire officials requested assistance from the Arkansas Forestry Commission, who stated that the fire consumed approximately eight acres of land.

The Fire Department was unable to determine the cause of the fire or who the property owner was. City Manager Catherine Cook released a statement saying, “The City of Hope asks everyone to take care while burning leaves or brush. Please also remember that the City will pick up leaves or brush at the curb. Just call 870-777-8644 at the Public Works Office to Schedule a pickup."
