HOPE, AR - The Bobcat and Ladycat Cross Country teams finished the season Thursday at the Arkansas 4A State Cross Country Championships. The Bobcats finished in 10th place out of 26 teams. The Ladycats finished 11th out of 20 teams.
Seniors Brian Jimenez and Aniell Felipe led the way for the Bobcats. Sophomore Jose Juanes had his best run of the year to help the Bobcats secure a top 10 finish. Fabian Aguilar and David "Gio" Ruiz finished out the top 5 for the team. Nathan Sanchez, Omar Cardona, Oswaldo Alvarado, and Angel Pardo also competed and had great times.
Senior Esmeralda Leon and junior Brianna Maclaughlin have run great all year and had another great showing at the State Championships to lead the Ladycats. Senior Ari Juanes had a strong run missing her PR by only a few seconds. Wendy Hernandez and Crystal Ortiz rounded out the top 5. Sophia Johnson, Allison Yhoss, Angelica Soto, and Reyna Martinez also turned in great times for the Ladycats.
The Hope Cross Country teams have had a great year. The Bobcats won the Dragon Country Invitational. Finished runner-up at the Leopard Run, the Scrapper Invitational, and the Conference Championships and had a top 10 finish at the State Meet.
The Ladycats started the year with a top 5 finish at the Bob Gravett Invitational. Finished runner-up at the Dragon Country and Scrapper Invitationals. They had a 3rd place finish at the Leopard run and were also Conference runner-up.
