Hines Driver Dofort Harris Honored by a National Organization

Dofort “D-Train” Harris, a driver for J.D. & Billy Hines Trucking, Inc. in Prescott, was recently selected to be a member of the NASTC’s 2021 Driver of the Year Team. NASTC (National Association of Small Trucking Companies) represents over 14,000 trucking companies in the U.S. and Canada, and each year they sponsor this program to recognize those drivers who are superlative in their field.

Dofort says when he learned he was receiving this award, he was stunned. “I didn’t even know my name had been submitted,” Dofort said. “I was so surprised, and I felt humbled.” Dofort’s 30 plus years and over 3 million miles as a Hines driver is filled with many milestones and multiple awards for his top-rate safety and consummate skill, but he says this was an experience all on its own. He, his wife Kimberly, and Ron Quillin (Hines HR Manager) traveled to Nashville for the annual conference where Dofort and Hines Trucking were presented with the awards. “I enjoyed it from the time I got there until we left,” Dofort said. “I got to meet the other drivers on the team and visit with people from all over the country.” Dofort said every aspect of the conference, from guest speakers to the hotel and food, was just as enjoyable as meeting those new, interesting people. He was even interviewed by Dave Nemo of Radio Nemo. “This entire experience has been wonderful, and I still feel humbled and honored that I’m being recognized like this.”

HR Manager Ron Quillin said Hines Trucking is more than proud of Dofort for receiving this award, and that he made quite the impression at the national conference. “As a representative for Hines, we couldn’t have asked for better,” Ron said. “Dofort is a wonderful spokesperson for us because of his tenure and personality.” During the conference, Dofort proudly wore his Hines shirt and rings every day while also talking with others about the company, and many compliments were given regarding Dofort’s engaging presence. “Everyone around him could feel that positive, infectious attitude he has. He was very well-received, and we are definitely proud of him.”

In a press release issued by NASTC, Executive Vice President Buster Anderson said Dofort joins a “very elite group that represents the very best” and had praise for both Dofort and Hines Trucking. “JD & Billy Hines Trucking Inc. is very proud of their drivers and should be very proud of themselves, as well," Anderson said. "It says a lot about a company when they can attract and keep employees of this caliber."

For receiving this distinguished accolade, Dofort received a plaque and multiple prizes, as well as a bright NASTC logo for his Hines truck which classifies him as one of America’s Best Drivers and a member of the Driver of the Year Team (see pics below). Now, as Dofort makes his daily runs for Hines, all on the road can see that Dofort’s skillful expertise has landed him on this esteemed list of the best and brightest drivers in the small trucking industry.
