Historical Society Meets Oct. 26 to Discuss New Book

The personal stories of local residents are amazing and can be a great resource for learning more about the past history of our area. A recent book was published entitled “A Sharecroppers Daughter: Born and Raised in Nevada County, Arkansas” by Lenora McWilliams. The book recounts her memories of growing up on the farm in Nevada County in the 1930s and 1940s and what life was like in the area at that time.

Hempstead and Nevada counties have always been connected and were originally part of the same county. Come learn about this new local history book at the Hempstead County Historical Society on Tuesday evening October 26, 2021 at the Presbyterian Church in Washington, Arkansas at 7pm. Everyone is welcome.

The guest speaker for the evening will be local writer and resident, Lenora McWilliams and she will also have copies of the book for sale.

The Historical Society seeks to bring awareness to the rich heritage and history of Hempstead County. Come and share your history with us.

If you have any questions concerning the event itself call 870-703-8256 or email [email protected].
