Hogs blow out LSU
By Otis Kirk

No. 21 Arkansas jumped out to an 8-0 lead over LSU and went on to take a 91-62 win in Baton Rouge.

John Calipari celebrated his birthday in a place that hasn't been very good to the Razorbacks. Arkansas only beat LSU 85-81 on Jan 24 in Bud Walton Arena.

"We lost here last season," Calipari said. "We talked about the first five minutes and the first five minutes of the half and you know what? We did it."

Arkansas got big games from Darius Acuff Jr, Meleek Thomas and Trevon Brazile. Acuff scored 28 points and dished out five assists. Thomas added 20 points, four rebounds and three steals. Brazile had 14 points, 12 rebounds, 4 steals and five blocks.

"When you have TB, Darius and Meleek playing like they are," Calipari said. "Then you have Nick (Pringle) doing what he does."

Pringle had six points and five rebounds. Billy Richmond Jr. added 13 points and five boards. Malique Ewin left the court and had to get stiches when hit in the head. Ewin still managed six points and six boards. Isaiah Sealy had four points in 13 minutes.

"I hope Malique is going to be okay," Calipari said. "He got a pretty good cut. They are sewing it up right now."

LSU (14-10, 2-9) was topped by Marquel Sutton with 18 points and six rebounds. Pablo Tamba added 11 points and Robert Miller III came off the bench to score 10 points and pull down five boards.

Arkansas (18-6, 8-3) shot 56% from the field and 25% from deep. The Razorbacks attempted a dozen shots from deep and made three. LSU did win the rebounding 43-36. Arkansas blocked 10 shots and had seven steals. LSU didn't block a shot in the game.

Arkansas will return to Bud Walton Arena on Saturday night to host Auburn (14-10, 5-6) at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN. Auburn blew out the Razorbacks 95-73 on Jan. 10 while at home.
