FAYETTEVILLE -- It will be a big matchup on Thanksgiving Day night when No. 21 Arkansas squares off with No. 4 Duke at the Chicago United Center.
Duke (7-0) and Arkansas (5-1) are both hoping to use a win in this game to propel them to a better season. Arkansas forward Trevon Brazile previewed the Duke game on Tuesday.
"Just a very solid team all around," Brazile said. "Obviously they have a lot of pieces. They have shooters. Obviously a big kid, (Cameron) Boozer, he’s going to play like a bulldog. So we know it’s going to be a scrappy game going in. That’s pretty much it."
Boozer is a 6-foot-9, 250-pound freshman who leads Duke in all categories. He's averaging 21.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. Brazile was asked how the Hogs are preparing for Boozer?
"Obviously we know how talented he is and how skilled he is," Brazile said. "So we just prepare for him like we would anyone else. Obviously he gets a little bit more attention, but we prepared for this team just like we do with any other team as far as scouting. But we just focus on different things and with him, we’ll just focus on a different set of things."
Brazile was asked if the freshmen are excited to play in an NBA arena with the history of the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan?
"I’m pretty sure everybody’s excited," Brazile said. "I don’t know about anyone else on this team, but I never got to play in — is it Chicago’s? — in Chicago’s arena. So to go there, it’ll be crazy, just all the history that’s there, with Michael Jordan, Derrick Rose, people like that."
Brazile also talked about the team going onto the national stage on a night when many people from around the country will be watching.
"Yeah we know how big this game is," Brazile said. "We know it’s going to be a tough game, they’re a really good team. Our mindset is just being razor-sharp, locked in, just focused on these practices leading up and then going out there and playing."
One thing about Duke is they have great length and Brazile knows the Hogs will have to find a way to matchup with it.
"They’re just a good defensive team," Brazile said. "They’re good on defense, their length, I don’t know if we’ve played a team with their type of length, so we’ll see how we adjust to it. But I mean we got length too, so it should work itself out."
Duke has four different players shooting 40% or better from behind the 3-point line.
"Run them off the line, closing out to their shoelaces," Brazile said. "We’ve been practicing that ever since the game we gave up 15 threes, so that’s a big emphasis for us is not giving up threes and we’re just going to try to go out there and run them off the line."
Despite playing on Thanksgiving the Razorbacks have plans to celebrate it.
"We'll do some Wednesday night, probably in Chicago," Brazile said. "Eat a nice little dinner with family that comes to Chicago."
The tip is set for 7 p.m. and televised on CBS.
