FAYETTEVILLE - Down 6-0 before batting in the third inning, the University of Arkansas Razorbacks rallied to batter, 16-8 the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans Tuesday night at the Razorbacks’ Baum-Walker Stadium.

Coach Dave Van Horn’s nationally No. 2 (Coaches poll) Razorbacks of the SEC advance to 19-4 and are set at 4 p.m, Wednesday to conclude their 2-game series with Coach Chris Curry’s Trojans, 11-11 of the Sun Belt Conference.

UALR, preferring to call itself Little Rock, in 2019 stunned the eventually national runner-up College World Series bound Razorbacks, 17-7. Little Rock scored solitary runs in the second, unearned, and third, RBI single by Aidan Garrett, off reliever Miller Pleimann.

The Trojans wouldn’t score again until the fifth inning on Canyon McWilliams’ solo home run off reliever Kole Ramage.

Winning reliever Evan Taylor and reliever Gabriel Starks blanked Little Rock thereafter until Soto’s way too little way too late ninth-inning double off Zebulon Vermillion.

Arkansas’ 15-hits comeback started scoring with Robert Moore’s RBI double and Chris Lanzilli’s single in the third.

A solo home run by Greenbrier’s Cayden Wallace started a 5-run fifth including RBI singles by Jalen Battles, and Drake Varnado plus on Kendall Diggs’ fielder’s choice and a wild pitch.

Diggs hit a 3-run home run and Braydon Webb a 2-run home run in Arkansas’ 5-run eighth following Arkansas’ 4-run sixth.

Wallace, 2 for 6, Webb, 3 for 5, Michael Turner, 3 for 5 with two doubles and a RBI, Moore, 1 for 3 with a RBI, Lanzilli, 2 for 3, with a RBI, Battles, 2 for 4 and 2 RBI, Diggs, 4 RBI with a 3-run home run and run-scoring fielder’s choice, and freshman Varnado, 2 RBI, swung big Arkansas bats.
