No. 7 Florida took the lead over No. 20 Arkansas with 13 minutes remaining in the first half and went on to take an easy 111-77 victory over the outmanned Razorbacks in Gainesville.
Florida (23-6, 14-2) had an easy time with Arkansas building the lead to as much as 37 points, 111-74. Arkansas (21-8, 11-5) knew rebounding would be an issue and it proved to be with the Gators pulling down 51 boards to 31 for the Hogs.
John Calipari was quick to give praise to the Gators after the one-sided loss.
"Give [Florida] credit," Calipari said. "They played great. They were more physical. We missed 15 layups in the first half. I think we missed 12. Probably shot 40% from the foul line. They took it to us.
"Now, I will tell you, that certainly doesn’t look like my team, the one I was coaching today, but this happens sometimes."
Shooting was issue and more than just at the foul line. Florida shot better from 3-point territory 42% (8-19) than Arkansas did from the floor 40% (30-75). The Gators got to the free throw line with 32 attempts, making 25 (78%) which was more than the visitors shot (13-24) while making only 54%.
Florida also outscored Arkansas 56-44 in the paint. Florida held a 53-34 lead into intermission.
Billy Richmond III once again was impressive for Arkansas. He topped the Razorbacks with 22 points and added six rebounds, 2 steals and a block. Darius Acuff Jr. finished with 17 points and six assists. D.J. Wagner had 12 points, Malique Ewin 11 points and eight rebounds while Meleek Thomas had 10 points.
Thomas Haugh topped Florida with 22 points. Alex Condon added 17 points, Boogie Fland and Urban Klavzar 14 each, Xavien Lee 13 points and seven assists while Rueben Chinyelu chipped in 12 points and 16 rebounds.
The Razorbacks will play the final home game on Wednesday night when they host Texas at 6 p.m. in Bud Walton Arena.
