FAYETTEVILLE -- Arkansas has continued its hot streak on the recruiting trail with a commitment from Valley View defensive tackle Eli Thornton.
Thornton, 6-3, 315, was at Arkansas twice this week including Saturday's Red-White game. Thornton was offered by Arkansas on March 2 while on an unofficial visit to Fayetteville.
Thornton had originally intended to go public with his decision on July 4, but the fireworks for Arkansas started earlier with his pledge. Thornton had a simple message on X Sunday.
"Staying Home #Committed #AGTG."
As a junior, Thornton had 24 tackles, 18 for loss, four sacks and 25 quarterback hurries. He has an official visit set to Arkansas for the June 19 weekend.
He chose Arkansas over Wisconsin, Illinois, Kansas State and Oklahoma State among others. It was his original intention to take official visits to those four schools plus the Razorbacks.
Arkansas now has seven commitments in the Class of 2027.
