FAYETTEVILLE -- No. 8 Arkansas trailed most of the game, but thanks to a three-run blast by Kendall Diggs took a 7-5 win over Army on Tuesday afternoon in Baum-Walker Stadium.

Arkansas had never led until the bottom of the eighth when Diggs stepped into the box with Brady Slavens on second and Jace Bohrofen at first with one out. Slavens had been hit by a pitch and Bohrofen singled to left field. Diggs hit the first pitch thrown to him by Dom Trippi for a three-run home run. That was the first time the Razorbacks had the lead all day.

All of Arkansas' runs come on home runs. In the bottom of the sixth, Jared Wegner delivered a three-run blast with Tavian Josenberger on second and Peyton Stovall on first. After Slavens grounded out to second base, Bohrofen hit a solo shot to tie the game at 4-4.

Army regained the lead in the top of the seventh when Sam Ruta reached on a one-out single. Kevin Dubrule reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Ruta to cross the plate.

Arkansas' Dylan Carter came in to work the final three innings to pick up the win, his second in as many decisions. Carter allowed three hits, one run, walked one and struck out two. He pitched out of a jam in the top of the ninth.

"I felt great," Carter said. "First time I've had pretty much every pitch working. That last inning everything felt like it was working. I could put any pitch where I wanted."

Army jumped on Arkansas starter Parker Coil in the top of the first when Ross Friedrick hit a two-run blast over the fence in center for a 2-0 lead. Army also added a run in the top of the fourth and another in the fifth for a 4-0 lead.

In addition to Carter, former Bryant standout Austin Ledbetter also pitched well in relief again. He worked 2.1 innings, allowing three hits, one run, striking out a batter and not walking anyone.

Coil, in his first start, pitched 3.2 innings allowing six hits, three runs, walking one and striking out a trio of Army hitters.

Trippi (0-1) took the loss for Army. Starter Robbie Buecker was outstanding. He pitched 5.1 innings allowing just three hits, one run, walked two and fanned a pair.

Arkansas (10-2) will open a three-game series at home on Friday against Louisiana Tech. Friday's game starts at 3 p.m., Saturday at 2 and then Sunday it's a 1 p.m. start. Louisiana Tech brings an 8-4 record to Fayetteville and split a two-game series with Ole Miss in Oxford earlier this season.
