OXFORD, Miss. – No. 5 Arkansas (13-1-2, 8-1-1 SEC) wrapped up the regular season with a 5-0 victory against Ole Miss (5-12-1, 0-9-1 SEC) on Sunday in Oxford.
The Hogs picked up their 10th shutout of the year and two players, Ava Tankersley and Kate Doyle, netted braces in the process.
Game Notes
- The Hogs had several unfinished chances before finding the back of the net twice in the last five minutes of the first half.
- Doyle scored the opener in the 41st minute, followed by Sophia Aragon’s shifty goal to double Arkansas’ lead with one minute remaining.
- The Razorbacks ended the half ahead in shots, 17-2.
- Tankersley recorded her fourth brace of the season after scoring two goals in a span of four minutes with feeds from Doyle and Ainsley Erzen.
- Doyle followed up four minutes later in the 60th minute to put the match away for Arkansas.
- The Hogs’ defense gave up one chance on frame that was saved by defender Avery Wren at the goal line.
- Arkansas finished the match ahead in shots 23-3 and forced Ole Miss goalkeeper Shu Oba to make seven saves.
- Doyle and Tankersley lead the team with 11 goals each.
- Tankersley moved up to No. 2 on the program’s all-time goals (38) and points (110) lists.
- Freshman goalkeeper Keegan Smith finished the regular season with eight solo shutouts and currently ranks fourth in the SEC.
- Arkansas outscored SEC opponents 28-6.
SEC Standings
The Hogs finished conference play with 25 points and will wait to see how No. 3 Mississippi State finishes in its final two matches. The Razorbacks have clinched a first-round bye at next week’s SEC Tournament, which begins Nov. 3 in Pensacola, Florida.
