Hope Advertising and Tourist Promotion Commission approve of new, inflatable slide for the Fair Park Summer Programs
The Hope Advertising and Tourist Promotion Commission approved of a purchase on a new, inflatable slide Tuesday afternoon to be included in the Summer Programs at Fair Park.

The summer programs will begin on June 8 and go through July 22 everyone Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon at Fair Park at no costs for kids to attend. This year the program will expand to Northside on Wednesdays at the same time. The program began with an average of 12 kids a day but has expanded to an average of 45 kids a day.

Secretary Summer Powell was originally looking for inflatables to rent but later thought it would be better to buy for the city to also use for Train Day, the Watermelon Festival and other similar events. The commission also is considering renting it out to citizens for additional cost and damage deposit.

After looking through four different types of inflatables and eventually settled on the Wacky Dual Lane slide for $5,055. The board approved of it unless the insurance company doesn't approve.

The Commission also approved to increase the budget for the Hope Fourth of July event at the Hope Municipal Airport from $10,000-$12,000 to $16,000-$18,000.
