Hope City Board accepts police bonus funds, approves bids for work at May 17 meeting

Patsy White speaks to the board at Tuesday night's regular meeting about damage to her property she alleged was caused by city workers.

The Hope City Board convened last night for its second regular meeting in May. Among its decisions were:

  1. an approval for a Juneteenth Parade to take place June 18 at 10:45 a.m. on a route from the Yerger School Museum to Northside Park.

  2. a transfer of lease for a concession stand at Fair Park from the Lions Club to the Hope High School Band Boosters

  3. an acceptance of new members of the Housing Authority Board,

  4. acceptance of bids for roof replacement, roof sealing and a generator.

  5. acceptance of state funds for $5,000 bonuses to academy-trained police officers.

During the Citizens Request time, resident Patsy White said the end of her driveway had been damaged during city work related to culvert replacement and needed to be repaired. The board and city manager Catherine Cook agreed to send crews to address the damage.
