The Hope Farmers Market defied the rainy weather today, ten vendors continuing to sell locally grown and made foods, plants and flowers under The Hub's pavilion. The hosts were Farmers Bank and Trust.
Janet Choate, Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer at FB&T said the company likes to host Farmers Market once a year as part of its sense of responsibility toward local farmers. "We always like to be out in the community," she said. "And The Hub is the heart of the community."

As of 9 a.m.--after the Market had been open two hours, a variety of items were available, from bouquets to mint plants to steaks to honey to bread.
Deana Gilbert, the Farmers Market's manager said the rain had not affected the turnout of vendors but that as spring turns to summer season, more vendors will be appearing. "We'll have this place packed out once it gets really warm and stays warm," she said.
Gilbert expects that on future Farmers Market days the Kilpatricks will return as their crops ripen and "we're going to bring some information on health and wellness to add this year."
The Farmers Market of Hope sets up in The Hub on Tuesdays during the growing season. Its usual hours are from 7-11 a.m. But the earlier you arrive, the more offerings are available.
