Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce Announces 2023 Annual Meeting Keynote Speaker

The Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce their Keynote Speaker for the Annual Meeting & Banquet on April 10, 2023 at Hempstead Hall presented by Lance and Associates Real Estate.

Christy Burns, Chamber Executive Director stated, “We are overly excited to announce Mr. David Bazzel as our 2023 Annual Meeting & Banquet Keynote Speaker.  We would like to thank our Presenting Sponsor, Lance and Associates Real Estate.”

Mr. Bazzel is currently the host of Morning Mayhem on 103.7 The Buzz.  Mr. Bazzel signed with Lou Holtz and the Arkansas Razorbacks in 1981 after being recruited by other schools such as Florida, Florida State, Miami, Georgia, Georgia Tech and South Carolina.  He was the Team Captain and Defensive Captain, 3-year starter and 4-year letterman at linebacker under Holtz and Ken Hatfield from 1981-1985.  He led the team in tackles in 1984.  He participated in 4 bowl games including a 15-tackle TV MVP performance in the 1984 Liberty Bowl vs. Auburn & Bo Jackson.  Mr. Bazzel was inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2014. 

Mr. Bazzel is responsible in the creation of the Broyles Award (College Football’s Assistant Couch of the Year), the Burlsworth Trophy (College Football’s top player who began his career as a walk on), Battle of the Golden Boot (Trophy Game between Arkansas & LSU), Little Rock Touchdown Club (One of the most respected TD Clubs in the country), and the Darren McFadden Award (Top Running Back in Arkansas) just to name a few.   

Mr. Bazzel’s recognitions include Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame (2014), 12 Most Powerful Men in Arkansas (2010), Top 11 Influential People in Little Rock (2015), Johhny Heflin Humanitarian Award (2011), Young Executive of the Year (1996),  and Distinguished Service Award (1994).  

Some of Mr. Bazzel’s past work includes Arkansas Governor’s Council on Fitness Chairman under Governors Bill Clinton, Jim Guy Tucker and Mike Huckabee.  He was a former weekend sports anchor and reporter for Little Rock NBC Affiliate KARK Channel 4, an Analyst on KATV Channel 7’s 30-minute Razorback Show, Fitness columnist for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Public Relations & Event Management for Jennings Osborne and the Osborne Family, Consultant to the University of Arkansas Athletic Department & Frank Broyles, and a TV Spokesperson for Fletch Dodge Chrysler Jeep, Tim Parker Chrysler Jeep, Western Sizzlin of Arkansas & Bath Fitters of Arkansas.
