Hope High Band looks toward Saturday contest after high marks at Lake Hamilton
The Hope High Band travelled early Saturday to the Power Band Classic at Lake Hamilton High School. The results included a second-place ranking in their 5A division and fifth place overall. Twenty-one bands entered the contest, which occurred on the Lake Hamilton High campus.

On the Hope Public Schools Bands Facebook page, the awards won on the day were posted:

-1st Division Percussion

-1st Division Color Guard

-1st Division Band

-Outstanding Music in Class 5A

-2nd Place in Class 5A

-5th Place Finalist Band (out of 21 Bands)

Chris Davis, director of the Hope Bands, said the scores come from many judges in categories like music, music ensemble, and visual general effect. He looks forward to having a full compliment of members in the upcoming contest tomorrow, the Razorback Marching Invitational at Arkansas High in Texarkana.

Former Hope Band Director Robert Hesse came Friday to see the band perform and offer advice ahead of the contest. He was inducted in the Hope Educators Hall of Fame later in the afternoon, with four other teachers for his 15-year career at Hope's schools.

A combination of illness and schedule conflicts has caused absences, with the Legacy Marching Invitational in Bryant September 28th as the last time the band performed with all its members present.

This week’s Inked Threads Performer of the Week is Angelite Martinez, who Davis complimented for her attendance as well as leading her flute section, a crucial ensemble during the Juno show in which the woodwinds are very busy contributing exotic color to the sound.
