Hope in Action board adds two new members
Two new members have been appointed to the Hope in Action board of directors.

Mike Malek and Casey Curtis, both of Hope, have been given seats on the board of the nonprofit that assists those of low income with food and shelter needs.

Casey Curtis said this morning that when he heard he would be appointed to the board he considered it “a high honor.”  “There’s a lot of good people on the board that does a lot of good for people in helping them get back on their feet.”

Curtis added that the church he pastors, Providence Baptist Church, often collaborates with Hope in Action on its food relief work.  He said he likes that the organization also gives those who use its services spiritual counselling if they are open to it.

Also appointed to Hope in Action’s board is Mike Malek, who expressed his gratitude for being allowed to help.  Prior to his appointment he had been contributing his labor when the organization receives food donations on Mondays and needs them organized and put away.

Malek said he also looks forward to working with Casey, the other board members and the leadership of Hope in Action.  “They are great people, and I know them all. I worked with Casey for a while, but it's a top rate group of people. Paul Henley and I are close friends, and as it turns out, Mae Delaney, who kind of runs the place day by day, and I actually worked together in the poultry industry years ago,” Malek said.

As stated on its Facebook page, “Hope In Action provides temporary safe shelter, meals, basic needs, and essential support to individuals and families facing food insecurity and homelessness in Hempstead County, Arkansas.”  Its phone number for needs and for donations is (870) 777-8227.
