Hope Lions hear of next fundraiser for Carter's Class which will also help HPS robotics competitors
Carter Wilcox, who spearheaded Carter’s Class, the program to place books from the Scholastic Book Fair in the hands of Hope schoolchildren, has now moved on from Clinton Primary and is a student at Beryl Henry, but his campaign to spread book ownership to his classmates continues.

Appearing Monday at the Hope Lions Club, Wilcox told members that he continues to believe in the good of allowing each child to own a book of their choice. The library at Clinton Primary has also benefited to the tune of 600 books from Wilcox and his sponsors and donors contributions.

Wilcox spoke of Carter’s Class’ next big fundraiser, the Second Annual Hot Diggity Dog Trivia Night, to take place the evening of Saturday, November 8th starting at 6:00 p.m. at Hempstead Hall.  As well as the nourishing fare of Hope robotics teacher Hosea Born’s questions and answers, attendees will be treated to a hot dog bar.  Costumes of all sorts are encouraged,  There will be raffles, a silent auction and a chance for the team of up to eight members that accumulates the most points for their answers to win $500, Wilcox said.

Multiple items in the silent auction will sport signatures from current Razorback athletes as well as Tim Tebow, former Florida Gator and Denver Bronco quarterback.

Proceeds from the event will also go to the Hopebots Booster, which supports students competing in the Hope Robotics program, which includes fifth to eighth graders.

Wilcox also spoke about the success of the Hope Piranhas this past summer.  Arkansas’ team of swimmers placed second and Wilcox himself placed 13th at the Junior Olympics in Houston. Wilcox had a raft of medals won in swimming events, which he passed around the room.
