Hope Police Chief on late Tuesday afternoon road conditions

SWARK.Today contacted Hope Police Chief Kim Tomlin to inquire about road conditions in that town this afternoon. She provided a report and advised extreme caution.

" Hempstead County currently remains under a hard freeze warning through 11:00 am Wednesday January 17, 2024. While many of the main, more traveled roads in town are mostly clear now, as nightfall approaches and temperatures drop, wet patches of the roadway will refreeze.

"Most side street and roads that are less traveled are still ice covered and slick. Your local Law Enforcement friends encourage you to stay home and off the roadways unless it is absolutely necessary to get out. If you must drive, please slow down and use extra caution, as some icy patches may be difficult to see. Stay home, stay safe and stay warm! "
