Hope Tennis to Begin Season Tomorrow
Hope- It’s time for the Lady Cat and Bobcat Tennis season to start this week, as they have their season opening matches with Arkansas High on Thursday. “We graduated seven senior girls last season, but I’ve been impressed with this class we had replace them, we look to contend for a District Championship,” Coach Gerald Bennett said on media day, as he spoke on the talent and depth of this girls’ team. Sophomore Monica Bobo is returning as the #1 from last year as her freshman season saw her breakout and claim 2nd in the district tourney and advance to the 2nd round of the State Tournament as a freshman. “The goal is to win district this season, make it back to state and win there as well,” Sophomore sensation Monica Bobo said as she spoke on goals for the upcoming season. The guys side should be improved from last year and will be a fun group to keep up with this upcoming season. Coach Bennett talked more about his boys’ team, “I’ve had 4 guys really buy into the program this offseason and they should make some leaps from last season.”

The Girls Team

Sisters, Kennedy and Madison Phillips will make up the #1 doubles team this season, as Kennedy was just one match away from advancing to state last year teamed up with Edith Dominguez, who graduated. Look for Madison to slide into that role and those two should make a run towards a State appearance. Mycah Bradley and Lydia Bobo, Jamie Young and Grace Easterling will all be some names to watch out for this season for the Lady Cats Tennis squad.

The Guys Squad

Erik Salazar will look to be a name to keep up with this season for the boys team, as he continues to improve. James Artis is also another guy to look out for. Sophomores Riley Bramlett and Davis Johnson have both improved and will possibly be a good doubles team this year. “I’m excited about the growth of the four guys, they have bought into our program,” Coach Gerald Bennett said at media days when talking about the guys tennis roster.

Keep up with all things Hope Tennis at SWARK.Today. The Lady Cats and Bobcat Tennis team begins its season on Thursday Aug. 15 at Arkansas High.
