Hope Tourism Commission plans for Hope's 150th Anniversary
The Hope Advertising & Tourist Promotion Commission met in the Hope City Board Room for the March meeting and discussed the upcoming Hope 150th Anniversary Celebration on April 12th. This sesquicentennial planning has been in full effect for some time, and this evening Tourism Secretary/Parks Director Summer Chambers updated the commission regarding some of the events. The day will start downtown with vendor shopping and a parade and then after 3pm move to City Hall for a fireworks show, carriage rides, games, musical concerts, and much more, all free to the community. Most notable, Chambers shared with them that Farmers Bank and Trust has joined in the planning and is donating and cooking a Hamburger Supper, free of charge for attendees at the event. All the details about this celebration can be found HERE

In other business, Chambers shared with the commission that terms had been met with placer.ai, the data gathering site that would give tourism statistics, to include the Chamber of Commerce and EDC in the data sharing. She also said Great Southwest would be sharing in the cost.

Chambers said Christmas decor was at good pricing right now and gave a few options for wreaths for the commission to peruse. Discussion on pricing and what other options available took place and the topic was tabled for another time.

Chambers reported to the commission that repairs were complete on the portable restroom trailer and would be used at the next event, the Hope 150th Anniversary Celebration.

An ad will be placed in the upcoming SWARK.Today Progress Edition which will be accompanied by an article that will showcase Hope Tourism events in the community. Motion made, seconded, and accepted.

Mayor Still reported to fellow members that he got some info about how to proceed with getting a local parcel of land so Tourism could place a digital sign advertising events. The commission agreed to make an offer on the land to “get the conversation going” like Mayor Still said. Motion made to proceed with this, then seconded and accepted.
