Hope Water and Light Holds Virtual Commissioners Meeting for April
The Hope Water and Light Commission held their April meeting on Wednesday, April 28, at 7:30am via Zoom, continuing to abide by the COVID-19 guidelines. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Dr. Lester Sitzes, III and a motion was made to approve the minutes from the last meeting. The motion was seconded and the minutes were approved by the commission.

The Commission announced that electric income is down over 5 million due to money spent on the power Bill, but water and broadband income have both gone up for February and March in the past year since those months in 2020. Broadband customers have gone up to 65 users, compared to the 45 users from last year.

The Hope Water and Light Pre-Pay option has taken off even more, with 175 current users, up from the launch of the program back on Feb. 2020.

Hope Water and Light also touched on the success of the new Kiosk added in front of their office. They had 333 citizens use the Kiosk in February, 280 in March, and as of the 20th, 189 in April.

The Commission also discussed updating their COVID-19 polices. Hope Water and Light will no longer be doing temperature checks starting May 1 and masks will no longer be required for vaccinated employees. Unvaccinated employees will still be required to wear a mask.
