Hope XC Competes in Scrapper Invitational, Nathan Sanchez Wins Jr. Boys Race, Madelyne Maclaughlin 2nd in Varsity Girls
Nashville- Hope Cross Country teams headed to the Scrapper Invitational Tuesday afternoon, both Varsity squads competed as well as it was the Jr. District Meet. Freshman Nathan Sanchez impressively won the Jr. Boys Event, and Sophia Johnson medaled in 6th place and helped lead the Jr. Girls to a Conference Runner-Up title. Both Jr. Teams competed very well Tuesday.

The Varsity girls had a couple of great showings as Madelyne Maclaughlin ran her best race of the year to finish in 2nd place, which keeps her streak of Top-5 finishes intact. Madelyne was very impressive as her hard work continues to pay off. Brianna Maclaughlin also ran an excellent race and finished in 10th place. Brianna has now finished in the Top-10 in every race so far this season and also posted her best time of the season. Brency Cabriales ran a great race and finished in 26th place, Ari Juanes was 27th, and Esmeralda Leon was 35th to give the Lady Cats a 3rd place team finish behind DeQueen and Dierks.

The Varisty Boys race also saw multiple Bobcats finish in the Top-10, as Aniell Felipe finished in 7th place as he edged out teammate Brian Jimenez for the first time this season as Brian finished in 8th. There is a great friendly rivalry between those two as they continue to push each other this season. Alex Brand arrived today after missing multiple meets due to an injury and finished in 13th place in a very impressive race, Alex Hernandez continues to impress as he finished in 17th, and Kevin Lozano finished in 22nd with teammate David Ruiz in 23rd. The Hope Varsity Boys finished in 2nd place as a team behind DeQueen. The Lady Cat and Bobcat teams are back in action next Saturday as they travel to Hot Springs.
