Hope's Nashville up-and-comer Mae Estes releases video for new song
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 19, 2022) - Following the release of her thought-provoking, classic-country tune “Thinkin’ ‘Bout Cheatin’”, up-and-comer Mae Estes delivers a powerful visual to accompany the track, painting a sobering picture of a woman’s conversation with her husband about her thoughts of back-peddling on their marital vows.

“Thinkin’ ‘Bout Cheatin’” - penned by Estes with Alex Kline and Autumn McEntire, and produced by Paul Sikes (Jimmie Allen, Matt Stell) - first dropped last week (May 11), premiering with The Boot, who marveled, “Sonically, the perfectly-textured neotraditional country song harkens back to the genre’s classic sound traditionalists love.” Estes gave fans a sneak peek of the video yesterday (5/18) when it premiered exclusively with CMT.

“This was actually my first music video to film, so it was extra exciting for me! Emma Golden directed and I’ve been a fan of her work for years, so it was incredible to finally work with her. She brought my ‘Urban Cowboy’ aesthetic vision to life with ease,” Estes said of the making of the video.

“My favorite part of the video is that my actual husband acts as the husband in the video. He’s very quiet and laid back, so it’s definitely out of character for him to be in a music video. Overall, it was a dream come true to get to add a visual to a song I’m already so proud of! I hope the video helps the listener understand even more my intentions behind writing this song and transports them back in time to my favorite era of traditional country music.”

Signed to Plaid Flag Music, her prior release, “Roses,” surpassed 100K streams on both Apple Music and Spotify, and has now garnered over 1 million streams. Taking cues from traditional artists like Lee Ann Womack and Keith Whitley, Estes merges the timelessness of classic country music with modern melodies to create her artistry, both as a songwriter and a performer.

About Mae Estes

From when she was the seven-year-old who walked into the middle of a southwest Arkansas rodeo show arena with a cordless microphone and sang the national anthem a cappella, to becoming the college graduate who packed her car for the 400+ mile solo trip to Nashville, Mae Estes has always known that Music City was her destination and writing, recording and performing her destiny.

The Hope, Arkansas native moved to town in 2015, where she’s been paying her dues for the last seven years. Taking cues from traditional artists like Lee Ann Womack and Keith Whitley, Mae merges the timelessness of classic country music with modern melodies to create her artistry, both as a songwriter and a performer.

In 2020, the stars aligned and Mae signed a deal with Plaid Flag Music. “The new music we are writing and recording now is not shockingly different,” Mae says, “but I’m slowly peeling off more layers. These songs offer glimpses into my life and mind, and I hope they bring me and my audience even closer,” while simultaneously making waves in the industry.
