Blevins- The #2 ranked Hornets found themselves in a 4th quarter hole on Homecoming, as Mena led by 6 points in the final quarter. After a lead at the half, the Bearcats went on a run to close out the third quarter, but a lot can happen in the final 8 minutes of a game, especially when the Blevins crowd gets going and #3 locks in. With his squad trailing by a couple of possessions, Xavier Bazzelle took over the basketball game, scoring 23 of his game-high 46 points in the 4th quarter. Some big defensive stops and rebounding at the end of the game got the Hornets a big 75-70 win over the Bearcats.
Bazzelle finished the night with 46 points, including 7 three-pointers. He also added 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Bazzelle spoke on the win after the game, "When times get rough we like to go back to all the hard work we put in over the summer, the crowd always gets us going and we greatly appreciate each fan."
Javier Gomez poured in 14 points and had 5 rebounds. Sean Rohan had 6 points and Jaxon Hinton added 5 points and 5 rebounds. Rilee Faulkner and Paul Antley each scored 2 points. Great comeback win by the Hornets over a team with a lot of size and length.
The Hornets are back in action on Thursday as they head to Prescott.
