A fire in Spring Hill Sunday night destroyed a home that was currently unoccupied but held the belongings of a local man currently going through military training out of state.
Around 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, a call came in to 911 about a house on fire in the 800 block of Highway 355 West in Spring Hill. Hempstead County Sheriff’s Deputies and an Arkansas State Trooper responded with Spring Hill and Patmos Fire Departments and Pafford EMS to the scene. Responders arrived on scene to find the house completely engulfed and threatening to spread into surrounding woods.
Deputies closed down the section of Highway 355, cutting off traffic on the road between Bois d’Arc Lake and the Spring Hill School and giving firefighters room to work.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire and remained on scene to make sure it stayed in its boundaries until the early hours Monday morning.
According to the owners, no one was staying at the house at the time, but personal property of a previous resident was still at the residence at the time of the fire.
