In Klipsch Auditorium Thursday night 'An Old Fashioned Community Christmas Carol Sing-a-long' inspired audience to join in

“Welcome to An Old-Fashioned Community Christmas Carol Sing-a-long,” said the first page of the program for last night’s concert at Klipsch Auditorium in City Hall. Starting at 7:00 p.m. dozens of local musicians and singers took part in 90 minutes worth of Christmas classics and some songs that were less familiar but still performed to their utmost.

Taking part were groupings from the First United Methodist Church, Garrett Memorial Baptist Church, the event’s organizer, and Central Baptist Church of Prescott.  From these were provided choirs, a wind band, acoustic guitar players, keyboardists, singers and even a bell ensemble. The arrangements were lush and bright-sounding throughout.

Among the songs performed: “Jesus, Oh What a Wonderful Child” (Garrett Memorial Baptist Church Worship Team); “Good Christian Men Rejoice” (led by Jack Daniels, keyboardist and singer); “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear” (also led by Daniels); “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” (Instrumental by GMBC Band and Orchestra); “White Christmas” (also led by Daniels); “O Come O Come Emmanuel” (led by Max Sullivan and Heart of Prescott Worship Choir) and dozens of others.

The night also featured holiday poetry readings by Adam Pinner, Jack Daniels, Mayor Don Still and Laura Bramlett, with a talk on the history of Christmas Sing-a-longs by Clif Johnson.
