Injuries in Accident on Highway 67

At approximately 10:17 am this morning, Arkansas State Police dispatch received a call in reference to an accident that had occurred on Highway 67 West close to the old Guernsey weigh scales.

Upon officers' arrival, they observed a Semi 18-wheeler log truck and a Ford pickup in the ditch on the south side Highway 67 West. According to the preliminary investigation, the pickup was traveling West on Highway 67 attempting a left turn when a Freight liner Semi that was also traveling West attempted to pass and collied with the pick up. At the time of impact, the log truck and pickup both crossed the center line and rested in the south side ditch.

There were two occupants in the pickup. The passenger suffered minor injuries and was transported to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope by Pafford Emergency Services. The driver of the pickup had to be extricated from the vehicle by Hope Fire Department personnel and was transported by Pafford Emergency Services to a Texarkana hospital with extensive injuries.

State Police Trooper Dew was the investigating officer on scene, along with Arkansas Game & Fish Officers, Hempstead County Sheriff Deputies, Fulton Volunteer Fire Department, Hope Fire Department and Pafford Emergency Services who were all on scene to assist.
