INT Exchange students host Chamber Community Coffee at Hebrews 11:1
Participants were treated to a plethora of multicultural foods, drinks, and (best of all) conversation this morning when INT exchange students hosted this week‘s Community Coffee at Hebrews 11:1 in downtown Hope. Each student brought a dish native to his or her home country and then gave those in attendance an explanation of ingredients and the traditional use of the selected item. Most also expressed joy to be here participating in the program and said they hoped guests enjoyed the food that represented their respective nations.

Each student also shared their extracurricular activity experiences, several gave lessons on how to speak certain words in their native language and Brian, an exchange student from Taiwan played a beautiful piece on the piano for the crowd.

Arnetta Bradford, Regional Development Manager for INT, said she thought hosting the Community Coffee was a wonderful opportunity for people in the community to get to know the exchange students and understand how the program works by and explained that diversity does not define us, but aligns us all.

“We are hosting an exchange student coffee this morning at Hebrews 11:1 in an effort to show the diversity that we have right now in our community. We have several different countries, represented here today, Spain, Brazil, Taiwan, and Belgium. We have probably fifteen students in the program right now so we're just trying to break down the barriers of diversity and bring people together; whether that is internationally or locally we help fuse the communities, understanding that one country may be one country, but that doesn't have anything to do with each individual. Hearts are hearts. We all share the same blood, it doesn't matter what we look like or what our background is, we are community. That's why I have continued to do this for the past thirteen years now, just to continue to bring people together. I love what I do, I love the students, meeting the host families, working with the schools and the kids love it,” Bradford said.

Guests seemed delighted to try the new delicacies from other nations, only teasing their curiosities for more, as they then could be seen visiting with the students and asking questions with a genuine enthusiasm and interest to learn.
