Jays Begin Season with 70-68 Win Over CCS Friday Night
Magnolia- Friday night was the season-opener for the Nevada Blue Jays, as they begin their quest for another deep playoff run. This game started off with some fireworks as Kavion Coleman began the scoring with a highlight reel slam on a fast-break and ended with Kobe Hughey scoring the game winning bucket to give the Jays the 70-68 win. "The guys played hard and when the game got tight at the end they never wavered," Coach Jamario Bell said as he spoke on his teams first win of the year.

The Jays went into the half with a lead and held off a late surge from CCS to secure the win. Kavion Coleman and Keyonte Wingfield both scored 20+ points, as this dynamic backcourt will look to be a problem for the opposition this season. Kobe Hughey poured in 10 points, including the game-winner. Caleb Moss had 9 points and freshman Monti Mixon played through some foul trouble and added 4 points.

The Blue Jays (1-0) are back in action on Thursday as they head to Bradley for a showdown with the Bears.
