ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host Emily Johnson in her senior recital on Friday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. in McBeth Recital Hall. The recital is free and open to the public.

Johnson, a senior musical theatre major from Benton, Ark., is a member of Alpha Psi Omega national theatre honor society and Ouachita’s Women’s Chorus. Johnson is a student of Dr. Margaret Garrett, associate professor of music, and Stephanie Faatz Murry, assistant professor of theatre arts.

“I’m performing several pieces that I’ve been working on for a few months now, along with one that I came into the program with, ‘All That Matters’ from Finding Neverland, so it has a special place in my heart,” Johnson said.

Johnson will begin her recital with Frank Loesser’s “A Bushel and a Peck” from Guys and Dolls, followed by MoliĂ©re’s “Act 4, Scene 5” from Tartuffe. Next she will perform Adam Gwon’s “Calm” from Ordinary Days and Paul Gordon’s “Graduation Day” from Daddy Long Legs. To conclude, Johnson will perform Lanford Wilson’s “Act 1” from Talley’s Folly and Gary Barlow’s “All That Matters” from Finding Neverland.

“I’ve grown so much as an artist and a performer over the past four years, and I can’t wait to see what the post-graduation world has in store,” Johnson added.

Johnson will be assisted by Dylan Blackwood, a senior musical theatre major from Walnut Ridge, Ark., and Cedar Valdez, a senior musical theatre major from Garfield, Ark. She will be accompanied by Phyllis Walker, staff accompanist for Ouachita’s Division of Music.
