Hope- The Jr. Lady Saints welcomed Mineral Springs to town on Tuesday night and the fans definitely got their moneys worth. In a game that was tight from the opening tip, GMCS and the Lady Hornets tied into a very physical, hard-fought game, that saw Lady Saint Preslee Peck put up her second triple-double of the season, as the Lady Saints played perhaps their best game of the season. Blayklee Glass knocked down a game-tying free throw with just seconds remaining to knot the score at 30-30. Seconds later an an in-bounds play, the Lady Hornets put up a 3-pointer and it went through the net just as the buzzer sounded to give Mineral Springs the win. "We played a lot harder tonight than we have been lately and they just got a tough shot off at the end to beat us," Brailyn Almand said after the game.
Preslee Peck led the way for the Lady Saints with 15 points, 16 rebounds, and 13 blocks, as she is solidifying herself as a top-notch rim protector, and opposing teams are going to have to earn every bucket the get against the Lady Saints in the paint. Abby Mendoza scored 8 points and dished out 3 assists and had 4 steals. Gracie Bullock had 4 points and 3 steals, whicle Brailyn Almand scored 2 points and grabbed 5 boards. Blayklee Glass' lone point was a huge one to tie the game late in the 4th and Heaven Garcia grabbed 7 rebounds and had 2 assists. Garcia had this to say after the game, "Even though we lost 33-30 we played very aggressive and it was a great game to build on."
The Lady Saints are back in action next week when they head to Saline Co. on Tuesday.
