The game was a back and forth affair, but Preslee Peck took a defensive rebound, headed towards the other end, and would not be denied as she scored the game-winning layup with just seconds remaining on the clock to win the game 39-38.
Peck finished the night with her third triple-double in the last month, as she put up 27 points, grabbed 20 rebounds, and swatted 16 blocks. Gracie Bullock showed out as well with 11 points, 11 steals, and 3 rebounds. Lainee Almand scored 1 point and had 4 rebounds. Payton Anderson had 3 rebounds, Blayklee Glass had 2 rebounds and 2 steals, as she was in foul trouble throughout the game. Lexi Crane and Megan Flowers each had 2 rebounds as well for GMCS. After the game Preslee Peck spoke on the win, "We worked really good as a team, we played really good as a team we were up 20 and now we're ready for State."
On Friday night, the Jr. Lady Saints traveled to Trinity Christian for one last game before next weeks tourney and they would run away with this one 34-14. Preslee Peck followed up her triple-double with 27 points and 11 boards. Abby Mendoza poured in 6 points and had 4 assists and 5 steals. Lexi Crane shot the ball very well and hit a pair of jump shots for 4 points. Blayklee Glass had a 3 steals and a rebound, and Anna Bullock, Mandie Maclaughlin each had 3 rebounds. Payton Anderson has been playing a great brand of basketball lately, as she had 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist. Megan Flowers added a rebound.
The Lady Saints are heading into the State Tournament as the #1 seed and will travel to Hot Springs on Tuesday for a game with Cornerstone. With a win the Jr. Lady Saints would host the State Semifinals on Thursday.
