Kids look at and pet two sheep at the Junior Auxiliary's Easter Fest Saturday morning.

Inside the main building at the Hope Country Club, starting at 10 a.m. today, about a hundred kids took part in about half a dozen different Easter-themed activities, thanks to the volunteers of the Hope Junior Auxiliary.

As kids entered the building, they could have gone to their right and tried their hands at the egg toss. (Seven-year-old Race Willis counted the egg toss his favorite event.)  An obstacle course was set up, too. Also on the right was an enclosure with two friendly sheep ready to be petted. They were popular.

Going to the far left, kids could get their photos taken with the Easter Bunny, who was taking a break from delivering goody-filled Easter baskets around the world.

At the center of the room was a coloring book table, where kids were working away with their crayons on Easter-themed pages.

Nearby, and perhaps most popular with girls, was the Face Painting table, where artists concentrated on rendering colorful eggs, bunnies and rabbits onto young faces.

At the entrance again, on display were several Easter baskets the lucky winners of a drawing would take home.

By 10:30, everyone was ready for an Easter Egg hunt, which took place at Hole #1 on the Country Club golf course. When the time was called for their age groups, groups of kids ran with their baskets to pick up the hundreds of eggs the Easter Bunny had laid out.

Why all the haste?  Junior Auxiliary provisional member Tanya Alvarado helped explain it. “Every little kid is going to have a prize inside those eggs.” How many eggs? “We have over 2,000 to give out,” Alvarado said.

The kids looked determined to find them all.
