Karissa McGuire Signs to Rodeo at UAM
Karissa McGuire, a 2020 highest honor graduate of Spring Hill High School has signed a four year scholarship with The University at Monticello, the school known for rodeo enthusiasts.

McGuire has been involved in the rodeo scene since she was four years old and has continued to compete throughout her high school career. As a member of AHSRA, she has brought home many titles including Arkansas State Champion in cutting just last week, as well as The World Champion in Breakaway and Barrel Racing with The Appaloosa Horse Club in 2018. In July she will compete at The National High School Finals in the cutting event in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

Although her favorite event is breakaway, she also competes in cutting, barrel racing, pen roping, pole bending and team roping.

When asked what rodeo life meant to her, McGuire had this to say, "It has a family atmosphere, I've made great memories, life long friends and I just belong there. For me, it's home"

She will be majoring in animal science at the university and plans on becoming an Equine Pharmaceutical Representative upon graduation.

"I am so thankful that God has given me the opportunity to represent my state and for my dream to come true by being able to rodeo in college. I couldn't have done this without the love and support of my parents, grandparents and friends. Seek His will in all you do and He will show you which path to take," McGuire said about the opportunity to rodeo at UAM.
