About Katrina A. Walker: Katrina Walker, a native of Akron, Ohio, and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, has proven herself as a serial entrepreneur with an unrelenting determination to stand out. Her journey from humble beginnings to becoming a force in entertainment has been nothing short of extraordinary.
Growing up during the Civil Rights Movement, Katrina’s resilience shone through. She embarked on her entrepreneurial journey early, collecting glass bottles as a child, ironing sheets for customers, and even running a restaurant’s third shift while still in high school. These experiences shaped her indomitable spirit.
While studying English at Texas Southern University with dreams of becoming a journalist, life threw unexpected challenges her way. However, Katrina adapted, found employment at FedEx, and ventured into stand-up comedy, eventually performing all over the nation.
In the late ‘90s, Katrina opened Rainbow Kids, a 24-hour childcare center for single parents working night and odd shifts. This community staple has continued to serve families for three decades, a testament to Katrina’s dedication.
In 2017, she released her gripping autobiography, “Unbreakable: 5 Husbands, Homeless to Self-Made Millionaire, The Katrina Walker Story,” which chronicles her journey from an abused teen bride to a successful self-made millionaire.
Katrina’s vision extends to the stage with “Miss Dee’s Kitchen,” a play that promises non-stop laughter. Set to tour in winter 2023/2024, this side-splitting comedy features Miss Dee herself, played by Katrina Walker, in her warm and cozy kitchen. With a cast of unforgettable characters, live music, and hilarious antics, this play is a must-see.
