Ken Bragg appointed to Arkansas State Board of Education today

PRESS RELEASE

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. –Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders today announced that she has appointed Former Arkansas State Representative Ken Bragg to serve on the Arkansas State Board of Education. This is Governor Sanders’ first appointment to the Board of Education. Bragg is replacing Ouida Newton, whose term expired, and his term will expire on June 30, 2030.

“It is my honor to announce my first appointee to the Arkansas Board of Education: Ken Bragg,” Sanders said.“Ken worked on the LEARNS Act when it was still in its infancy and shepherded it through the legislative session. He knows the law like the back of his hand – which will make him an asset to the Board as we implement bold reforms that will transform Arkansas education.”

Ken Bragg was elected to his first term as State Representative for District 15 in 2012 and completed ten years in the House before deciding not to seek a sixth term. 

In past sessions Ken has served on the Revenue and Tax Committee, the Agriculture, Forestry & Economic Development Committee, the Education Committee, the Joint Energy Committee and Arkansas Legislative Council. As a member of the Legislative Council Ken served as co-chair of the Review Committee during the 93rdGeneral Assembly. Ken also represented Arkansas on the Energy Council CLEER Board of Directors. He previously served as Majority Leader for the 90th General Assembly and as an Assistant Speaker Pro Tempore for the 91st and 92nd General Assemblies. Recently, Ken served as a legislative liaison during the 94thGeneral Assembly for Governor Sanders.

Prior to serving in the Arkansas House of Representatives, Ken served on the Sheridan Water and Sewer Committee and the Sheridan City Council for sixteen years.

Ken retired as the Arkansas Region Manager for Resource Management Service. Ken and his wife Beverly are members of First Baptist Church in Sheridan where he serves as deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Mission Team Leader. His wife, Beverly, is a retired public-school teacher.
